So after a day at the online marketing event in angel which whilst fun wasn’t as impressive is i first thought, i received this mail:
Hi Ken,
I saw your blog post and thought I would drop you an email to explain….
I am really sorry that you feel mistreated. That was certainly not our intention.
The event invites were sent out with a view to registering people on a first come first served basis. I could have made that clearer… I just said “Space in the bar is limited, so get your name on the list quickly to avoid disappointment”.
There are 8 networks inviting affiliates to this event, and we only have capacity for 300 people. I have received hundreds of emails from people who would like to attend, and many of them will unfortunately not be able to come due to space restrictions.
Hopefully we will do another event like this, and next time maybe we’ll co-ordinate a little better.
I think we were all quite pleasantly shocked by the huge interest in the event.
I’ll call you to explain this further today.
I have to admit for the head of publisher services to contact via email, perhaps i was a bit too rash in my criticism, it appears that Tradedoubler are, infact, very aware of the affiliates in the space. SO much appreciated on my part to Lee for his thoughtful explination, this being said, I also hope that this marks a new era for Tradedoubler and its publisher/affiliate relationships, which have suffered over the last few months, perhaps this is a sign of Tradedoubler reverting to its former glory where affiliates were see as the partners that they are. I look forwards to more events (hopefully better preempted) from Tradedoubler that will give affiliates and merchants a chance to gel and exchange ideas and opinions.
