Considering the recent comments on many a forum with regards to Tradedoubler, and the way tradedoubler handles affiliates an builds relationships with affiliates, I was impressed by an email that i received as part of the work i was doing as an affiliate for them, ok, granted I’m not a major affiliate for the by any means.
Dear Publisher,
Summer seems to be, dare I say it, finally here.
If you enjoy a refreshing evening drink after a hard day’s work, then you might be pleased to hear that TradeDoubler and some of the other affiliate networks have collaborated to bring back the informal networking dinks that used be all the rage back in the day…
So, I am delighted to invite you to attend the Affiliate Get-together BBQ from 5pm on Wednesday 2nd July atXXXXXX
The bar bill and food will be paid for by the contributing networks, so all we require is your company. It’s a great way to meet the people you have talked to on the phone or exchanged emails with. So, don’t be shy…
Space in the bar is limited, so get your name on the list quickly to avoid disappointment.
All you have to do is email your name and company name to me at xxxxxxxx using “affiliategettogether” in the subject line to get yourself onto the list.
If you have already registered through one of the other networks, you don’t need to do it again.
If you haven’t yet registered.. do it now!
See you at the bar!
I felt really chuffed at last Tradedoubler were going back to its root and reengaging with affiliates, great stuff, so I sent an email back to confirm my attendances, ironically, the next day i got this:
I am pleased to say that there has been an overwhelming response to this event. It’s great to know that so many of you are keen to meet up.
As I mentioned on my first email, space in the bar is limited, and I am afraid we will have to disappoint many of you by not confirming your invite. As sad as this may be, it is an indication of how popular an event like this is… So I really hope we can do more of them in the future!!!
For those of you who WILL be confirmed, we have had to limit it to two people per organisation to give as many people as possible a chance of coming along.
So, for now, please don’t book planes, trains or hotels until we notify you that your attendance and invite are confirmed. We hope to do that in the next week or so once we have been through the lists with other networks.
If your going to put on event, thats going to be exclusive to your top 10 affiliates, don’t invite us all, its makes you Look bad Tradedoubler, rather don’t invite people and then un-invite them, its simply rude. So once again, Tradedoublers attempt to re-engage with affiliates falls flat on its face. It would have been better to make this first come first serve or just sent to your top affiliates rather than uninvite people.
