I’ve always wanted to try my hands at a discount code site, and after Leeky, off the A4U announced the launch of his new and very cool project: icodes.co.uk I was in luck, I decided to put one of my many free domains to good use, vouchercodediscounts.co.uk and within a few hours, icodes.co.uk had been setup on my site and was working, I logged into the back end, and added the various affiliate IDs as well as my google adsense ID and voila the site was ready for some hardcore uploading of merchants, BUT wait! it turns out that icodes.co.uk, allows you to do this automatically, and all the merchants accross 6 networks were automatically up loaded in a matter of minutes, complete with discount codes, short descriptions and keywords.
Point to note, 90% of the really tough work was done automatically, and whilst theres still over 100 merchants that need decent reviews written about them, the point is within an hour or so, I’ve got a fully working discount code site. the icodes.co.uk backend allows you to add HTML and alter certain elements, however, one key point to bear in mind is that the front end looks not very userfriendly, as such I’d like to see far more done about the aestetics of the site, as this can of course have an impact on conversions and user expereince.
All in all however, i think this is an awesome idea and a great way to get more affiliates involved with discount codes and affiliate marketing, in essence this is the wordpress for discount code affiliates.
